Mountains is a puppet show originally conceived in the summer of 2020. The show features a cast of maladapted archetypes portrayed by performers wearing papier-mâché creature heads. Their identity crises and struggles with social alienation are unpacked through soap-operatic sagas.

Live-directing every move of the puppets is The Dictator—the inner child trying to understand the emotional landscape of the adult world around her by reenacting it with her puppets. The Dictator’s heavy-handed live direction pathologizes and narrates the drama, in a conversation around identity, power, and free will.

Mountains reminds us that the work of building a [nurturing] society is essentially infinite; there is a job for everyone
